Acer Aspire 6930g Blu Ray Driver

So my optical drive has started to play up. It plays cds and blu ray discs fine but when I put in a dvd disc it doesnt seem to read them. I can hear the drive making a noise as if its trying to read something but its not loading.

I have tried deleting the upper/lower filters in regedit and also reinstalled the driver by uninstalling the driver and restarting the machine but still doesnt work. I have tried an original dvd movie disc and that loads up fine but when I try a dvd disc that I have burnt it doesnt seem to load or recognize a blank dvd so that I can burn something new.

Note- I recently upgraded the memory in the laptop, not sure if that could have affected it Hope someone can help Thanks. No that I know of - do run a full malware and antivurs check of course, but if the PC is otherwise working fine, and this is the only problem, and it was working before, and nothing else has been changed, I would presume the drive itslef is faulty How old is it? The disks that it won't read - have you another drive you can try them with, just to be absolutely sure it's not the discs One final thing - make sure your antivirus program isn't scanning the discs when you insert them - many antivirus programs, Bitdefender being one example, will be default be set to scan disks as soon as you insert them, but while it is doing it those discs will be very slow for the computer to read. Okay, so I am still having this problem as I recently tried to burn onto a dvd. Tried two different brands and the drive sounds like its trying to read but nothing happens. I tried playing a dvd which I burnt along time ago and the drive sounded like it was trying to read and then eventually after some time the disc read and I could access it. Could it be that I need to update the firmware?

I have tried searching for the model but cant find anything. Its a matshita bd-mlt uj240as in an Acer 8943G Please could someone help Thanks. Okay, so I am still having this problem as I recently tried to burn onto a dvd.

Some antivirus software (BitDefender paid versions for example) are setup to automatically scan any CD or DVD on insertion, unless you disable this - which can cause CD / DVD reads to be very very slow. I have avg free.

I ran my laptop in safe mode without any networking and avg wasnt running but it still wouldnt pick up the disc in the drive. When I try to burn something after a while I think it picks up the disc but the software says disc is not writeable media and ive tried other brand discs aswell What could I do to check this problem 100%? I have avg free and also spybot search and destroy running.

Could anything else be a problem? Thanks I till think the drive itself is most likely the fault - they don't last forever. I would suggest getting an external drive from somewhere, pluggin it into the laptop, and seeing if it works ok. If it does, you know the drive is at fault.

I fnot, you know it is something else. Comodo Internet Security Pro 8 Serial Number more.
