I had my IPhone 3g replaced twice three months apart. The insurance is def. They do two things when you need a replacement. One is called rapid exchange, this is where they can tell the phone is beyond repair then they pretty much send it off for a ' rapid exchange' this is the best bet as it only takes four to five days to get your phone back. The other is to send it off for repair, that can take up to two or more weeks. Both of my claims were rapid exchange and both times I got my phone back within five days. The geek squad person can choose rapid exchange but sometimes they will just send it off and let them make the choice.
Make sure if you do file a claim when you get your phone back you make SURE that the associate put the insurance back onto your new phone. They have to issue it a new policy number as you have fulfilled your original agreement. That's what I figured. The first time I did it I was just givin the new phone and I asked them and they said the insurance is on the new phone. But the second time there was some confusion about something and the associate called corporate ( she said) and said that they had to cancel it on the old and for me to call the next day and put it on the old phone. The next day I just went up there and a different associate was there and after calling the associate from the day before he said that they just had to switch the policy number because the old policy had been fulfilled. The first time I did a claim the manager of the Best Buy Mobile was there when I filed the dropped off and picked up my phone.
I think there was confusion between everybody else.
