Best Answer: No, it's not possible anymore. It often used to happen in the past though, I've been on eBay since 2000 and i've seen a few auctions where it happened. It's called Bid Shielding. Bidder A would put the starting price in say £30, Bidder B would place a massive bid like £300 well over what the auction would ever make, bidder A puts in another bid just above that, like £305. People see the auction is £305, well above what it's worth and so no one else places a bid or even watches it. In the last few minutes bidder B withdraws their bid, because bidder A is the only bidder the price goes back down to £30 and bidder A wins it at that price. EBay put a stop to this by changing it so bids can't be withdrawn in the last 12hours unless the bid was placed in the previous hour. I saw one person do it often, both of their accounts had 40-50 retracted bids each. Reported them to eBay, and eBay did.
You can still do some bid shielding with the last hour of bidding, never seen it happen though. On each persons buyer feedback, it states how many bids they have retracted. However, because bidders usernames are now hidden on auctions, you can't see their feedback profile to view this. If such a thing exists (which I highly doubt) it would not only violate ebays terms of service and get you banned from the site forever, but it would be incredibly illegal and could lead to many criminal charges.
Think about it. If you buy something for $200 that would have otherwise sold for $600, you just stole $400 from the seller. Also, there is no way I can think of to block other bidders. How would you?
