Determined not to like it from the outset I was hauled in, slapped around and converted within a few chapters. Whatsapp Download Free Nokia 206 here. The usual route followed, quickly picking up and reading all of the books. Some I have even read a couple of times. Child has the gift of being able to write with a spare economy which drives the story forward without fluff and flannel and it also suits the main character very well, a man who prefers his own company, is equally happy to dish out theory or a punch is likely to forego flowery waffle and get down to brass tacks. Unfortunately, where some of the Reacher books has plot in spades, I'm thinking Gone Tomorrow, Echo Burning, One Shot and Nothing to Lose in particular, this latest offering seems to have run out of steam. Whilst we still have the pared down writing, alpha male machismo and searing insight on behalf of Reacher, what we lack here is gripping plot. It feels a bit boilerplate, rushed out for a deadline and lacking in that rollercoaster feeling that we have come to expect from Child.

Still, Child is a man of almost mythic reputation and it is unfair to shake heads and tut-tut because one of this series is slightly weaker than the others. I will be still be in the queue to buy his next book when it comes out in hardback. Good but by no means the best Reacher novel.

Lee Child was born in 1954 in Coventry, England, but spent his formative years in the nearby city of Birmingham. By coincidence he won a scholarship to the same high school that JRR Tolkien had attended. He went to law school in Sheffield, England, and after part-time work in the theater he joined Granada Television in Manchester for what turned out to be an eighteen-year career as a presentation director during British TV's 'golden age.' During his tenure his company made Brideshead Revisited, The Jewel in the Crown, Prime Suspect, and Cracker.

But he was fired in 1995 at the age of 40 as a result of corporate restructuring. Always a voracious reader, he decided to see an opportunity where others might have seen a crisis and bought six dollars' worth of paper and pencils and sat down to write a book, Killing Floor, the first in the Jack Reacher series. Killing Floor was an immediate success and launched the series which has grown in sales and impact with every new installment. Lee spends his spare time reading, listening to music, and watching the Yankees, Aston Villa, or Marseilles soccer. He is married with a grown-up daughter. He is tall and slim, despite an appalling diet and a refusal to exercise.
