Okay so I took the plunge and got one of these from CRT Projectors (thanks Henry ). After some resorting to composite, I had the box up and running via HDMI. First impressions, pretty favourable. Copied over a couple of movies and a ton of.WMA music files which seem to work pretty well. Does anybody have any suggestions as to what the optimum settings would be for a 436SXE? My understanding was that it's not possible to drive the panel at it's native res (1024 x 768 eg 1:1 mapping) via HDMI.

Is that correct or am I entirely mistaken? Currently I've got it set for 720p, also I'm not sure what I should set as the refresh rate (50Hz, 60Hz). There are always going to be people on forums who slag things off. I could slag off loads of products that I have bought over the last year. If Henry & Co would let me pay by credit card and have it delivered to work (where I sit all day every day) instead of the address the card is billed to (where I am able to enjoy no time at all on weekdays until 7:00pm), then I'd have one by now. All the other sellers of this I can find are at £369 and FU. I react negatively to this lack of competition and refuse to buy, though it does make life more difficult for myself at times.

There we go, then; anti-competitive UK rip-off merchants well slagged off. Rhubarbe Don't blame the retailers - blame the banks/worldpay/paypal/etc The retailers would be more than happy to send it somewhere else, but as soon as you mention that you're anything to do with AV (plasmas used to be a dirty word with banks), they consider you at high risk of fraud and don't protect you. The other reason the RRP is being upheld is because the margins are getting slimmer and slimmer with crossover PC/AV products - add to that the fact that some distributors give higher prices to online-only retailers (to basically price-fix) and you can see it's a pretty screwed up business to be in. Even if you're a company that really does earn their sales with amazing product knowledge and support, you're classed as a box shifter and seen as the enemy! Despite this, I still would rather give my business to crtprojectors/pluggedin.tv/joe fernand/etc because they are the few who can really offer high-end video advice. I simply can't imagine walking into sevenoaks or practical hifi and getting anything like sensible advice. I just hope this industry starts to realise this soon and gives them the support they need.

The Burr Brown Op Amp and the Analog Devices DAC are the same in both units. The only difference between them is the TXCO. It clocks the main digital circuits and improves the digital outputs (both audio and video). Whether external DACs can improve jitter is something I don't know, but people are reporting good results with the MB200 into high-end DACs. AFAIK some people are still reporting that the first split second of tracks is missing, and also that it doesn't support gapless playback (i.e. For live or mix albums).

Apparently these issues are being worked on. As you say the price difference isn't astronomical, but afaik no one has identified the visable differences between the two units. In theory analogue outputs should benefit too, as the DAC would be fed a better digital signal, but people haven't really reported any video differences from any connection.

There have been a few who can hear the audio differences though. I think the main problem is that this tends to be bought mail-order so people haven't really had chance to demo them side by side and give reports. Whoever you're thinking of buying from might have an opinion. Hi, I've downloaded a high definition 1.07GiB.mkv file from usenet - I'm a self-confessd 'Lost' junkie, and the new 3rd season has just started on ABC in the USA. (I'd already downloaded a 350MB.avi file from another source, and have watched this on the MB200 - but although watchable, the picture is not sharp, and certainly not HD-level quality). The.mkv file contains the following in its name. 720.hdtv.ac3.5.1.x264-ctu.mkv - I un-archived the file and I've D/Ld the 'VLC Media Player' for my PC, and am very pleased with the results: Good quality picture on my PC, good 5.1 audio and perfect audio synchronisation.

So I turned my attention to getting the file converted for the MB200. I've tried playing around with an application called River Past Video Cleaner v6.8, but so far have not managed to get a fully working conversion. Hi, I bought the audiophile (MB200) version about a month ago from Pixel Magic's web site (about £330 incl.

Shipping the UK and VAT/duty). I fitted it with a 500GB Seagate drive bought on eBay for about £100. I had some problems early on after updating the firmware - it wouldn't play some WMV HD files and (annoyingly) it would reset itself after playing an MP3 file. It would also hang occasionally when playing other video clips or DVDs.

However, I rolled back the firmware a notch (1.3.1 >1.3.0) and things improved significantly. I've just upgraded to the latest release (1.3.2) and it's still pretty stable. It does however sometimes get stuck, especially if you like to flick between tracks/menus in quickly. I haven't compared it to the standard (MB100) version but the sound quality playing 320kbps MP3 files is really very good. However, lower bitrates sound awful, although I guess that's not really the player's fault. It's just highlighting the poor quality of the recording/encoding. Playback of ripped DVDs is really rather good and the scaler works fairly well given the price.

DVD picture quality at 720p or 1080i via HDMI is almost as good as my Denon 1920 DVD player. One thing to watch if you're a plasma TV owner (like me) - the menus are very bright. Thankfully Pixel Magic introduced a screensaver and (after a little digging around in the manual) it's also possible to adjust the brightness and contrast output by the Mediabox. Om Shanti Oshana Song Kattu Mooliyo Mp3 Download. Overall I'm very happy with it. It's a really good concept and while there are still some bugs, Pixel Magic seem quite keen to work with customers to resolve them via their excellent forums. For me it makes a great alternative to a Media Centre PC. It has all of the features I need and none of the ones that I don't.
